Dog Sledding Adventures

Mad Dogs & Englishmen Expeditions offer guided dog sled & ski-joring tours in Kananaskis Country, close to the town of Canmore Alberta. Tours are in small intimate groups, and provide a hands-on experience of handling the dogs and driving the sled. Two hour, half day, and full day tours are offered as well as multi-day tours on request. Summer Kennel Tours are also available which is a great opportunity to meet and play with 50 Alaskan huskies and puppies!

White Water Rafting

Based in Golden BC, Wet ‘n’ Wild Adventures operate daily rafting trips on the Kicking Horse river from May until September. The Kicking Horse is well known as being one of BC’s best rivers for white water rafting. An easy day trip from the Canmore area, their full day or half day excursions take you through class 1-4 rapids and no prior experience is required.
The same company offers snowmobiling tours during the winter.

Toby Creek Adventures

Based at Panorama Mountain Village, just over 2 hours from Canmore, Toby Creek Adventures offer a range of exciting tours & activities throughout the year. During the winter they offer half day and full day snowmobile tours which are suitable for all experience levels, and the speed and power of the sleds on the Powder X tours are sure to please intermediate to advanced sledders. Dog sledding tours are also available, as are dog sledding/snowmobiling combo tours. ATV tours are offered throughout the summer which range from 2-5 hours.

With 27 years experience offering guided rafting tours on the Kicking Horse, Alpine Rafting operates rafting trips for all ability levels, from the ‘gentle’ Family Whitewater tour to the Ultimate Whitewater tour with continuous Class 3 to 4 + rapids. Canmore Cave Tours

Canmore Cave Tours offer year round Natural History tours into Rat’s Nest Cave: a wild, undeveloped cave under Grotto Mountain near Banff and Canmore, Alberta, Canada. Rafting in Canmore and Banff

Canmore is in close proximity to several rivers which offer rafting for all ages and ability levels. Canadian Rockies Rafting offer rafting trips on the Bow River, Kananaskis River, and Kicking Horse River, and their tours range from a relaxed family float trip to grade 4 whitewater rafting.

Canmore Nordic Centre

Built for the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics, the Canmore Nordic Centre is a world class facility for cross country skiing and boasts a large network of perfectly groomed ski trails for all ability levels, as well as a comfortable lodge for warming up the kids or grabbing lunch and a drink. The network of trails also offer great mountain biking during the summer.

Trail Sports

When visiting the Canmore Nordic Centre (see above), Trail Sports is the most convenient place to organize cross country ski rentals and mountain bike rentals. They also offer x-country ski lessons (both classic and skate), ski tuning, and a good selection of new equipment for purchase.

Canmore Museum

The Canmore Museum & Geoscience Centre is located in downtown Canmore and tells the history of the local Canmore community as well as the geology of the Canadian Rockies. There is a permanent exhibition illustrating Canmore’s mining heritage, as well as temporary exhibitions focussing on both local and general subject matter.
